In this Mondays Express News there was an article in the business section about how the fitness industry is hurting because of the economic recession we are in right now.

Well, I want to thank you because we are not even close to having trouble, we are actually growing compaired to this time last year.

SAVE $- GET IN SHAPE PDF Print E-mail

After the fun of last years economic rollercoaster, many people are trying to save money.

Many people are also wanting to get in shape so that they feel and look better.

If you are trying to save money and get in shape, I have a great way for you to accomplish both goals at the same time; Pack Your Lunch!

It doesn't seem like much, but if you can trade your unhealthy fast food lunch for a healthy lunch, you will save both money and a few pounds.

Let's take a look at the popular restaurant, Panda Express.

If you were to go to Panda Express and get their popular two entree item plate, you might get Orange Chicken and Beijing Beef.  You are already eating nearly a thousand calories.  Add in fried rice and you are closing in on 1500 calories.

At the same time that you were eating this high caloric meal, you also just spent 8 dollars.

So lets say you did this 4 days/week.

You would have taken in 6000 calories and you would have spent $32!

If you do that for a month, you will have consumed 24000 calories and you would have spent $128.

If you were to eat a chicken breast with rice and vegetables for lunch, you would have taken in probably 400 calories and you would have spent probably $3.

In a month you would have taken in 6400 calories and you would have spent $48.

This would save you 17600 CALORIES and $80!!

A pound of fat is 3500 calories, so by eating in you are saving yourself more than 5 pounds per month by eating in!

If you are looking to stay in shape then start packing your lunch.

The people at your office may make fun of you, but in the end they will be jealous of you because you will look better than they do and you will have more money than they do!

Just something to think about!

Accountability Partner! PDF Print E-mail

This morning Sarah and I were at Church and our Pastor gave a sermon on Solomon.

Solomon was a great King of Isreal.

He was known as the wisest man to ever live.

You would think that because he was the wisest man in the world, there is no way he would get himself into a bad position that would pull him away from God.

Well, Solomon ended up with 700 wives and 300 "girlfriends" who worshipped other gods and thus Solomon moved away from God.

The reason the pastor told us this story was to get the point accross, that if Solomon had friends or family that were his accountability partner, then maybe one of them would have told him that what he was doing wasn't right after maybe the 50th wife!

He then told us that we should all have accountability partners in life.

We should have someone that will come and tell us when we are doing something wrong so that we stop and if we are doing something right, that accountability partner should reinforce that and help us notice how great a thing it is that we have done and how to do more things like that!

The idea of an accountability partner is what has made our Fitness Boot Camps/Small Group Personal Training so effective.

Not only do you have a Certified Personal Trainer looking over your shoulder helping you do each exercise correctly and pushing you to your limits, but you also have a close group of up to 8 people that expect to see you at each workout and will encourage you to keep going even when you can't go any further.

How many times have all of us started a fitness program at this time of year, but within a few weeks with quit following through with our program?

An accountability partner, or a group of them as in our Small Group Personal Training sessions will help hold you to your program and they will push you toward your fitness goals.

Do You See It? PDF Print E-mail

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope all of you had a great New Years Eve and New Years Day and that you are now sitting and watching bowl games with great delight!

With it being New Years, many of you will have resolutions that you will set for yourself to help you make a positive change in your life!

I am no different as I have my own New Years Resolution.  This year it is to become a better planner and to follow that plan.

If you are reading this, then it is very possible that your New Years Resolution is to get in better shape.  What a great goal and good for you!

For my business, I have created a plan for this year.  I have created long term goals and I have broken those long term goals into short term goals.  Each short term goal was then broken up into daily tasks that I need to accomplish in order to acheive each short term goal.

If you are starting your New Years Resolution this week, then I suggest you start a similar plan.  BUT, I want this plan to be  a little different.  I want you to truely visualize your goal.

Go find pictures, articles and quotes that epitomize the goals you want to achieve.  Put them into a spiral notebook in order of importance.  Then caption each page.  The captions should be the time line and specific goal you want to achieve relative to that page.

If you are a golfer then you know just how important it is to picture every shot before you actually hit the golf ball.

The same is true here.  You need to really picture yourself once you have achieved your goals. 

This will help serve as motivation when you feel like you are tired of your workout routine.

Try this strategy out and let me know what you think!  I am positive it will help you get motivated and stay on track to accomplish your New Years Resolution.

Taking It to the Next Level! PDF Print E-mail

No matter who you are, if you plan on getting results from your fitness program, you are going to have to push yourself further than you are right now!

It is the overload principle and it says that a body will adapt to the stresses placed upon it, so you must continue to change and improve the stresses placed on your body during a workout.

If you are looking to take your body to the next level, then make sure you are taking your fitness routine to the next level!

Add more weight to your lifts, run faster and jump higher!

Take it to the Next Level and make it a great day!
