Not only is the title of today's blog a catchy slogan for Nike, but it is also an attitude we should all take towards fitness and life in general.
This week, I was working out with Steve Edwards, a new client of mine who happens to be a successful web designer, when he complimented my website. I thanked him for his compliments and told him that while I love the way it looks, there were still some functional aspects of the site that I was going to try to improve, but that I simply had not found the time to make those changes and updates. After I told him that, he looked at me and told me point blank to quit being lazy and get it done. I replied that I really don't know much about computers and that I would have to call my web guys (www.sa247.com) to have them make the changes. Again, he looked at me and told me to quit making excuses, to search on Google for tutorials on how to make the changes to my site and then to get it done. Well, here I am writing on a blog that I installed on my website on my own. It may not seem like a big deal, but I am not very computer savvy, so it is a big deal to me because I quit procrastinating and found a way to get it done.
Many of you have heard me tell you the same thing regarding exercise. Quit making excuses, and go outside and get your cardio in. Every single day except for about 4 weeks/year in Texas it will either be too hot, too cold or raining, and if you use those as reasons to not exercise then you will never get it done. Today I am telling you to just do it! Get outside and go for a jog, a swim or a bike ride. Maybe you could call some friends and go play basketball or sand volleyball, or maybe you can organize a small touch football game. Anything to get you outside, get you moving and get your heart rate up. Just do it!!
One of my clients who has already gotten after it this morning is Leslie Coleman. Leslie is a participant in my August boot camp who has done an amazing job of getting out there and getting it done. It is not easy to get up at 5:30am to make it to boot camp at 6:00am to then run, do pushups, situps, squats and lunges in the San Antonio humidity, but Leslie has done it. As a matter of fact, she has done it so well that she has lost 17 pounds since she began boot camp at the start of August. Leslie quit making excuses for herself, she became active by joining our boot camp, and she adjusted her diet to be more healthy. She also now has the results that come from just doing it. She is looking and feeling better and her co-workers are taking notice.
What are you going to do today to help yourself reach your fitness goals? Maybe you want to join Leslie for our September Boot Camp, or maybe you will go out for that jog you have been telling yourself you will do tomorrow...for the last six weeks. Whatever it is, get out there and just do it. Today is the day for you to quit making excuses and start working towards your goals. When you are done, e-mail me what you did today to get you moving towards accomplishing your goals.
Make it a great day!
