Nutrition Seminar-Full, Cold Weather |

I want to thank everyone who has signed up to be a part of the nutrition seminar with Linda Farr on Feb. 6th. We have reached our capacity for that meeting, however if you are still interested in attending please let me know and I will put your name on a waiting list in case someone has something come up and they cannot attend. Additionally, if everyone finds this to be a positive experience, then we will be holding more seminars like this one and I will get a hold of you to let you know when the next one will be. I look forward to seeing all of you two weeks from now.
When it is cold, people tend to stay inside and be less active. This week has been miserably cold, and rainy and I for one have been doing everything I can to avoid going outside. If you are typically pretty active and like to be outside, be sure to make up for the activity you would normally do outside the house with something inside the house. Maybe you have a treadmill that you can jump on while watching t.v. or you can do some push-ups, sit-ups and squats at a high intensity to get your heart rate up and help you burn some calories. No matter what, you need to continue to be active! Don't just stop because it is cold. Be creative and have fun with it, a game of hide and go seek with the kids will get you running up and down stairs and a game of twister will have you breaking a sweat in no time. Do what you can to get past the cold and wet days...in a day or two it is supposed to be back to 68 degrees in SA and we can all go back to our traditional outside activities.
Make it a great day San Antonio!

So, you have started 2008 out on the right foot. You are watching what you eat, and you are exercising religiously. Now what? What are you working for?
It is easy to get into a rut and know that you need to be exercising and you need to eat correctly, but you forget the big picture and you lose track of what you are working towards. Be sure to give yourself definable short term and long term goals that are obtainable. Working to achieve these smaller goals will keep you from getting burned out and will help you reach your larger goals.
Sit down tonight and determine what your short term and long term goals are. It will remotivate you and get you excited about working out again.
Make it a great week!

Hey everyone! I apologize for not having written in the blog lately. I have been busy working to help Hector get situated in at the studio, busy planning a wedding and busy working to set up some upcoming events.
One of the great things we have been working to get organized is to have a nutritionist come in and speak at the studio. One of the areas we try to help our clients in is nutrition, and while we can help guide you, no personal trainer will know as much as a registered and licensed dietitian who has a college degree in nutrition. Linda Farr RD/MD will be at the studio on Wednesday, February 6th @ 7:30pm. We only have room for 20 people in the studio, so if you are interested please give me a call @ (210)415-5934 and I will reserve you a spot. First call, first served.
I hope you are all doing well, working hard in the new year, and I hope to see many of you on February 6th for a brief seminar and Q&A with Mrs. Farr.
Make it a great day San Antonio!

If at first you don't succeed... |

...try, try again. This is a saying we have all heard a hundred times and most of us would repeat to our kids, but do we ourselves live by this motto? What is your excuse for not trying to stay in shape, or get back in shape? Call me and tell me what your excuse is and I can just about guarantee you that I can hand the phone off to a client who has used that same excuse before they came to workout at MPT. It is the new year. It is a time for second chances, and a time to change your life. If you are serious about trying again, and you want the chance to succeed, then give us a call at MPT. We want to help you and we can help you. I can promise you we will not let you fail. Try, try again. Today is the day, give it a shot. What do you have to lose?
Make it a great day San Antonio!

Was Roger Clemens on Steroids? |
|
|
|

1/5/08
Lately there has been a ton of talk about Roger Clemens and Andy Petite being named in baseballs report on steroid abuse. I don't know whether they were taking steroids or not, but I do know that it gives trainers a black eye when news channels everywhere are talking about their trainer having them use HGH or steroids. I just wanted to write a quick blog to let you know that at MPT we don't support any type of steroid use. We never suggest to our clients the use of any type of performance enhancer because we simply don't know what the side-effects will be in the long run, and while we do suggest that our clients take advantage of multi-vitamins and proper nutrition, we are very careful not to suggest other forms of supplementation as we are not doctors and we do not have that expertise. If your trainer is giving you supplementation advice, please be careful. The body is very unique and it's chemistry is very complicated. Putting foreign substances into your body can have a devistating effect if the long term ramifications have not been studied thoroughly.

I also want to let you know that we have opened a new boot camp. Due to full capacity in our M,W,F boot camp at 6am we have started a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday Boot Camp. On Tuesday and Thursday we will meet and workout at the studio at 6am, and on Saturday we will meet and workout at the studio at 9am. If you are interested in this boot camp, please give us a call as there is plenty of room left.
Make it a great day San Antonio!
