Well I am back! Sarah and I got married only July 12th and for the last week I have been in the Bahamas enjoying beautiful water and an amazing resort. I really appreciate all of you that e-mailed, called and/or came to the wedding. All of you have a special place in my life and I really appreciate your prayers and support in this exciting time for Sarah and I.
Okay, well I am back at work so that means I need to discuss more work oriented things with you, so here goes:
-I am in the process of interviewing and potentially hiring a new personal trainer to help me expand this business. If you are a trainer reading this blog, or if you know a trainer in the area that might be a good fit for MPT, please send them my contact info or send me their contact info so that I can try to get them on board.
-Our August Fitness Boot Camps will be starting shortly, Monday, August 4th to be exact. If you are interested in joining a fitness boot camp or if you know someone who is, please pass this information along to them.
-Don't forget about our referral program! For each friend that you get to sign up for our fitness boot camp or for 2 weeks of personal training, I will pay you $80. Bring 10 friends and create your own boot camp and I will pay you $800!!
If you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will respond ASAP.
Make it a great day San Antonio!

Last week a study came out that caused many of the radio shows in San Antonio to talk in disbelief of the number of out of shape and obese kids we have in Texas. I don't remember the exact numbers the study found, but I do know that it is not too much different than what we have heard in the past. Kids in Texas, accross the United States and the world are fat and out of shape.
Where do you think these kids learn their habits? Their parents and other adults that have a prominent influence in your life! If you are a parent, aunt, uncle, grandma or grandpa, reading this blog and you are out of shape, please don't take what I write as an insult, but instead as a calling to do what you know you need to do, not just for yourself, but also for those who look up to you!
As an adult, you are a role model for someone. You may not realize who it is that looks up to you. It may be a child, a friend or maybe a co-worker, but someone is looking at you, trying to emulate what you do. Many of us know what we should and shouldn't do. We don't smoke as we know that can cause cancer and we don't want our children to think it is okay just because we do it. We don't drink and drive because it is not safe and we don't want our kids to think it is okay as they get older. Why do we think it is okay to be fat and out of shape? It can kill us just like smoking or drinking and driving. Our kids see these habits and copy them for themselves.
As a parent and as a role model, you need to get out and exercise. You need to eat right. You need to set the proper example for your kids!
Make it a great day San Antonio!

The year is half-way over! It is nearing July! Have you found your breaking point yet?
Everyone has a time where they just can't stand the way they look or feel. Some people take that as a challenge and go and do something about it. Others simply wait around, telling themselves that they will get in shape after the summer when the weather is better, or when they get done with their vacation.
Have you reached the point where you have had enough and you are ready to get in shape?
Two ladies in the 6:30pm boot camp reached their breaking point two months ago. One has an upcoming wedding and another was just ready to lose a little weight. Together they joined my fitness boot camp and started watching what they ate. In just under two months, each has lost between 10-15lbs and they both look great!
If you are at that point where you just don't want to wait around anymore, then you need to join one of our 5 fitness boot camps in July. Click on the "Training Programs" link in the menu above and then select fitness boot camp to learn more!
In the next month or two you could be just like these ladies who look and feel better and have people complimenting them on their results.
What are you waiting for? Havn't you had enough?
Make it a great day San Antonio!

Are You Happy with Where You Are? |

Sorry for being so bad about blogging lately ya'll. I have the good intention of writing 3-4 of these every week, but I have gotten so busy lately with new clients and new projects that I have had to push off writing. I am back on track and organized again and will be back to regular updates.
A few weeks ago, another personal trainer that I know from my days in College Station, named Charlie Lima, stopped in and visited with me about our businesses and at the same time we got a workout in. Charlie is a great guy and a first class trainer and if you are ever in College Station you should visit his webstie (www.trainwithcharlie.com) and go to one of his boot camp workouts! They are great!
Anyways, while Charlie was here, we talked about the different exercise philosophies trainers have. Some trainers believe it is best to lift heavy weights, while others think it is best to do fast pace circuit style workouts.
My thought is, it doesn't matter which type of exercise someone prefers. Every body reacts to exercise and eating differently. There is no one way that works for every person. There is no perfect exercise formula. If there was people wouldn't pay me to help them get in shape as they would already know the answer.
The reality is, are the workouts you are doing getting you the look you want? If your answer is yes, then you have found the workout program that is right for you. If you have been working out for 3-4 months, have been eating well and getting enough sleep and you still are not seeing the results you want, then it might be time to try another type of workout regimine!
So my question to you is, Are you happy with where your workouts are taking you? Are they getting you the results you want? If they are, congrats and keep up the good work. If they are not, give me a call and I can help you find the workout regimine that is right for you.
Make it a great day San Antonio!

One of the most common reasons/excuses people make for not being able to get a workout in is due to limited time. This morning, after talking with a few of my boot camp clients (who get up between 5-5:30am to be here at 6am) it became clear to me that it takes a special type of person to be able to get up and workout at that hour of the morning.
If you are one of these people who can get up and function at full speed first thing in the morning then that is awesome, and you should take advantage of that personality trait by knocking out your workouts early in the day!
For those of you who are not early morning people, realize that not working out leaves you with two choices: 1) Workout at your lunch break from work and/or 2) Workout in the evenings after work.
Personally, I am not at full strength at 5am, nor would I stick with a workout plan if I had to wake up at 5am to workout. I also don't like to workout in the evenings because it gets my body going and then I can't sleep and I have to get up at 5am every day. So, the alternative for me is to workout during my lunch break. Of course, I work at my own personal training studio so if I get a 30-45min. workout in I can be showered and changed within an hour. Many of you may not have this luxury, but others of you may have a longer lunch break which would give you the ability to leave the office and get a workout in.
No matter what your schedule is, you have to find a way to get a minimum of 3 workouts in each week. You may have to get up early even if you don't want to, you may have to skip that lunch out with friends and hit the gym then and eat a brown bag lunch, or you may have to head straight to a workout immediately following work.
Additionally, you need to treat your workout as though it is a business meeting. Make sure to put your workout schedule into your calendar so that you don't plan other functions at the same time as your workout. Your fitness routine must be consistent to get results. If you are constantly just trying to find time in your schedule, you will never get around to working out and you will never get results!
At this time of year many of you are heading away from your home city to go on vacations. What are you going to do on vacation? Take time off and lose all the results you worked so hard for? Plan your fitness schedule into your vacation schedule. Not only will you feel better from a workout, but workouts on vacation can be some of the most fun ways to sightsee a new place.
This blog is a little scatter brained, but my point is that you have to make time for fitness. You can't let life get in the way of your workouts, you need to make your workouts part of your lifestyle. If you make time for and are consistent about completing your workouts atleast 3 days/week you will see results. Start today by planning out this weeks workout schedule and stick to it! You will be happy you did!
Make it a great day San Antonio!
