One of the most common reasons/excuses people make for not being able to get a workout in is due to limited time.  This morning, after talking with a few of my boot camp clients (who get up between 5-5:30am to be here at 6am) it became clear to me that it takes a special type of person to be able to get up and workout at that hour of the morning.

If you are one of these people who can get up and function at full speed first thing in the morning then that is awesome, and you should take advantage of that personality trait by knocking out your workouts early in the day!

For those of you who are not early morning people, realize that not working out leaves you with two choices: 1) Workout at your lunch break from work and/or 2) Workout in the evenings after work.

Personally, I am not at full strength at 5am, nor would I stick with a workout plan if I had to wake up at 5am to workout.  I also don't like to workout in the evenings because it gets my body going and then I can't sleep and I have to get up at 5am every day.  So, the alternative for me is to workout during my lunch break.  Of course, I work at my own personal training studio so if I get a 30-45min. workout in I can be showered and changed within an hour.  Many of you may not have this luxury, but others of you may have a longer lunch break which would give you the ability to leave the office and get a workout in.

No matter what your schedule is, you have to find a way to get a minimum of 3 workouts in each week.  You may have to get up early even if you don't want to, you may have to skip that lunch out with friends and hit the gym then and eat a brown bag lunch, or you may have to head straight to a workout immediately following work.

Additionally, you need to treat your workout as though it is a business meeting.  Make sure to put your workout schedule into your calendar so that you don't plan other functions at the same time as your workout.  Your fitness routine must be consistent to get results.  If you are constantly just trying to find time in your schedule, you will never get around to working out and you will never get results!

At this time of year many of you are heading away from your home city to go on vacations.  What are you going to do on vacation?  Take time off and lose all the results you worked so hard for?  Plan your fitness schedule into your vacation schedule.  Not only will you feel better from a workout, but workouts on vacation can be some of the most fun ways to sightsee a new place.

This blog is a little scatter brained, but my point is that you have to make time for fitness.  You can't let life get in the way of your workouts, you need to make your workouts part of your lifestyle.  If you make time for and are consistent about completing your workouts atleast 3 days/week you will see results.  Start today by planning out this weeks workout schedule and stick to it!  You will be happy you did!

Make it a great day San Antonio!
