This Thursday is Thanksgiving and one of the worst holidays for those trying to shed body fat.  Here are a few tips on how to keep from adding on the extra holiday pounds:

1)  Eat breakfast and lunch.  If you eat a normal breakfast and normal lunch before the big Thanksgiving dinner then you won't eat as much of the heavy food at dinner.

2)  Organize a touch football game.  One of the traditions in our house for Thanksgiving is to watch the Cowboys play.  This year before you sit down for dinner and to watch the Cowboys, go and play a little football yourself.  You may not burn a ton of calories with a 20min. game of touch football, but your body temperature will elevate which will keep you from being as hungry when it is time for dinner.

3)  Balance your plate at dinner.  When you are passing the food around make sure to try a little bit of everything on the table.  This may seem backwards if the goal is to keep from adding on the pounds, but if you get a small sampling of everything that will prevent you from filling your plate with only ham, mac and cheese, and green bean cassarole (sp?).

4)  Portion control.  You know what this one means, but I just wanted to remind you!!

If you follow these tips it will help you avoid the dreaded day after where you step on the scale and wonder how in the world all that food fit into your stomach.

Make it a great day San Antonio!
